JJ’s Litehouse was established August 1989 by brothers, Jim and Jeff Kollar. Their concept was create a casual neighborhood restaurant tavern that would offer great food, cold drinks and an enjoyable experience for the patrons. Our family has lived in the area since the early 1900’s, their parents James G “Doc” and MaryAnn Kollar bring together our heritage of cooking, Doc being 100% Slovak and MaryAnn 100% Italian, Jim and Jeff learned the favorite recipes of both heritages. We decided to honor our family by continuing a family recipe and old-time local favorite, the Italian Pressed Steak Sandwich, a recipe created by their grandmother, Nani. The Original Pressed Steak and a Giant Fish Dinner were going to be the foundation of our menu.
More than 30 years later, the Original Pressed Steak and Giant Fish Dinner have proven to be favorites along with other specialty items we have introduced to the menu, Prime Rib Saturday’s, Giant Steak and Chicken Salads and the locally homemade Cavetelli dinner topped with our homemade sauce, along with other Italian specialties.
We believe in offering the highest quality foods at a great value. As the years have past us by, we always recognize why we entered the restaurant business, to have all people, young and old, visit our establishment and leave with a smile and a plan to return.
We would like to thank our Grandmother, Nani, for teaching us all of her recipes, all our employees for delivering service with a smile and most important our customers for the support for 30 plus years and hopefully 30 more.
